Q - So, what makes the Witchy World series special?
A - I'm an avid reader of urban fantasy and my goal was to create stories that are exactly what I love to read. My top picks favor stories where the heroes, simply put, don't quite have it all put together just yet. I' have always been a fan of witches, wizards, werewolves, vampires, and the like, who are in the process of discovering their new-found or undeveloped talents.
Early on in my writing career, I received a piece of advice I haven't forgotten - love your villains. When I reflected on this, I realized that all of the best sellers followed this, now obvious, advice. As a result, I spend as much time developing my villain's reasons for doing what they do as I spend trying to figure out how my heroes will work their way through seemingly overwhelming odds.
Finally, I like to mix a little romance into the storyline. For me, a good story starts with the character's relationships with the people around them. I'm also a big fan of strong female characters. In real life, as in my stories, I find strong women who know what they want to be exhilarating.
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - I've written the series so you can read the books in any order. Each book is a complete story and all threads will tie up nicely by the time you're finished. Reading in order will give a slightly better context to recurring characters and I'd suggest the following sequence

Another great read from Jamie McFarlane!Jamie continues to develop the characters in this series and Felix finds himself plunged into yet another adventure, and simultaneously learns more about himself. This is not a genre I had previously read, but I enjoyed Jamie’s Privateer Tales series so much I picked up the first book in this series and now am hooked!
A great tale that will grab you right off the bat, and keep you turning pages long after you should have turned out the light and gone to bed!

Dreams drag Felix into non-stop challenge of demons, demi gods and their followers. Add to that werewolves up in arms, attacking ogers and a last minute spell that didn't go as planned, mixed with a little humor and you are in for a read you won't want to put down. Best of first 3 novels!
This book feels like an excuse to introduce characters from other stories, rather than a story in and of itself. It ramps up the pointless romance to 'tween' levels, and spends most of the plot arc parading around what feels blatantly like either spin off or flat out unrelated novels.
I know the author says you don't have to read in order but you will get far more out of the series by reading in order. I really have enjoyed reading this series. I think this is the best book in the series. Really ties up some threads from the first and second books.
I assume there will be more but if not I will look for them or more by this author.
Rich storytelling with an interesting cast of characters. This book wouldn't stand without reading the previous stories first. It was a fun story, but many times it felt like McFarlane was trying too many things in too many places. It is a literary juggling of cats.
An interesting book. And possibly the final one, though there was a line there about another story.
We learn fully Felix's heritage, and how this is bound with the disappearance of his mother. We watch his need to rescue young females get him into trouble, and his naivety get him into even more. We even get to see him learn how to deal with Demons. And when I say deal, I mean like dead, finished, kaput.
How do you say exceptional without coming on as a sycophant? Jamie McFarlane has written another engrossing urban fantasy in the "Witchy Worlds" series and it's simply excellent! His characters are well fleshed out, world building is consistent and strong, and the storyline is building into a series that has taken on a life of it's own. I recommend this series to anyone interested in Urban Fantasy! I recommend his Privateers series to those who love a good rollicking Space Opera.

I was so looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. It's the 3rd in the series and I loved revisiting familiar characters and getting to know new ones. Felix went to new places and discovered sides of himself that were unexpected. I'll admit to some stress I went thru towards the end of the book but I am very pleased with the resolution. If you haven't read the first two books in the series yet, you should. And after reading this book you may care to check out Jamie McFarlane's book Lesser Prince which has a bit of a tie-in to this series. Another great read by one of my favorite authors.
